New element inscribed into the Register – Agrarian Communities
The Slovene Ethnographic Museum, as the Coordinator for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Culture last week for the registration of 139 element of the intangible cultural heritage. On 17 April 2026, the Ministry of Culture inscribed the element Agrarian Communities into the Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and evidented one bearer alongside the unit – the Association of Representatives of Agrarian Communities of Slovenia.
Agrarian communities connect landowners who manage common property, most often forest and agricultural land, on the basis of equal rights, duties and obligations. In rural areas, they ensure continuous management of common property and represent the interests of local communities.
The deadline for submitting initiatives for consideration at the next session of the Coordinator's Working Group is 15 May 2026. The Coordinator accepts initiatives throughout the year to register new bearers that meet the criteria for registration in the Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
